The original Showaddywaddy fan club ran from 1974 to 1985. It had tens of thousands of members, and in these days before the internet, this was how the fans were kept in touch with the band's latest news.

The fan club sent out newsletters a couple of times a year, and tour dates were also distributed.

Fans could also purchase official merchandise, such as pens, scarves, baseball caps, notepaper, mirrors, mugs, puzzles, bootlace ties, badges and posters.
