Good news for all Showaddywaddy fans! Speculation as to whether or not Showaddywaddy would leave Britain to become tax exiles was cleared up recently. The band have announced that against the advice of their accountants, they will continue to live in Britain. A spokesman for the group told us, "We feel that we owe it to our fans to stay, this is our home."
Right now, Showaddywaddy are taking a well earned holiday after a hectic first half of the year. The band have just returned from a week in Dublin where they were cutting their latest album which is due for release in October.
Since the Spring newsletter, Showaddywaddy have been touring hard. In Denmark, I was with them when they recieved a fantastic welcome from 5,000 fans ast a special gig in a fairground in Koge. The show took place on a specially constructed stage, and although the weather looked as if it would ruin the show, everything went off perfectly - much to the delight of the thrilled Danish audience.
During September, the group are planning a 3-day appearance on Polish television before flying to Vienna for a concert in one of the biggest halls in Europe. From there it's off to Germany for a seven day tour covering Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Hanover and Prague. And then it's back to Britain.
During October, our packed schedule includes a brief return trip to Sweden and Poland, but November and December will see the group back home again for a 3 week concert tour which will cover England, Scotland and Wales. Dates and venues have not been arranged yet, but as soon as they are confirmed, they will be available from the fan club, so don't forget to send a stamped addressed envelope requesting dates and venues.
Well it looks as if we're all going to be busy as usual, but I'll find time again to write at Christmas. I'm sure you'd like to give a big welcome to Janet who'll be helping me in the office now as Bernadette has moved onto other things.
See you all at Christmas, Sheila.
